As a travel agency we love to discover new places all around the world! This October we visited our nordic neighbours Iceland. Only 3 hours and 20 min flight away from Stockholm you I’ll reach this beautiful Nordic country. Perfect for a long-weekend Iceland offers a true nature experience that we vikings love! We checked off a lot on our bucket list;
Riding an Icelandic horse takes some time getting used to – they have two extra gaits to other horses that you may have ridden. You may well get to try one of them, the tolt, a kind of running walk that will momentarily unsettle even experienced riders, but is incredibly comfortable once you get the hang of it. They’ll transport you back into the land of the Sagas, tolting or trotting across the wide and rugged terrain, towards giant mountains and thundering waterfalls.
In Downtown Reykjavík there are a lot of bars, coffee houses, restaurants and social events, the majority of which we saw was a decent mix of local Icelanders and tourist. Expect a fun night and something for everyone! In Reykjavík you can’t miss the stunning Hallgrímskirkja, the largest church in Iceland. It was designed by Iceland’s most famous architect, Guðjón Samúelsson who is responsible or countless impressive buildings across Iceland around Iceland, including the National Theatre and the church in Akureyri. It was named after a 17th-century poet and the author of the nationally revered Passion hymns (Passíusálmur), Hallgrímur Pétursson. My partner and I had a fantastic long-weekend and we highly recommend to visit this beautiful country!
